AI Usage Policy

Policy and Controls for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Scholarly Publishing

Within the framework of the Journal of Al-Furat University for Scientific Research and Studies' commitment to upholding academic integrity and ensuring the quality of research outputs, the Journal's Editorial Board announces the adoption of this policy regulating the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the preparation of scholarly research, in accordance with the following controls and standards:

First: Definitions and Scope of Application

  • Definition: AI technologies refer to all systems and tools capable of generating or processing scholarly content in a semi-autonomous manner (e.g., language models, text generation tools, translation systems, image creation tools, data analysis software, etc.).

  • Scope: This policy applies to all research submitted for publication in the Journal without exception.

Second: Permitted Uses

The use of these technologies is permitted as assistive tools, subject to explicit disclosure, in the following cases:

  1. Linguistic Support: Grammatical proofreading, stylistic improvement, and text formatting.

  2. Methodological and Technical Support: Brainstorming, literature summarization, code development, and modeling.

  3. Academic Translation: Subject to meticulous human revision of scientific terminology.

Third: Disclosure Policy on the Use of AI Tools in Scholarly Research

In order to uphold the principles of transparency and academic integrity, the Journal of Al-Furat University adopts the following policy regarding the use of AI tools in the preparation of research submitted for publication:

  • General Principle
The use of AI tools as supporting aids in the preparation of scholarly research is permitted, provided appropriate disclosure of their use is made, with the explicit understanding that full responsibility for the accuracy and originality of the content rests solely with the authors.

  • Use Cases and Disclosure Requirements

    1. Technical and Methodological Use
If AI tools are used for:

      • Code development

      • Data analysis or modeling

      • Support for scientific simulations
The following or equivalent text shall be included in the Methodology section:

"AI tools (specify the tools used) were utilized to support the technical aspects of this research. The authors have reviewed and verified the results to ensure their accuracy."

    2. Text Generation or Scientific Paraphrasing
      When using AI tools for:

      • Generating initial drafts

      • Paraphrasing paragraphs

      • Improving scientific writing style
The following shall be stated in the Methodology section or a separate section as needed:

"AI tools (specify the tools used) were used to assist in drafting certain parts of the text, followed by rigorous scientific review by the authors."

    3. Language Editing and Proofreading
The following shall be included before the reference list:

"Assistive tools were used for language proofreading and text quality improvement, with all modifications reviewed by the authors to ensure the accuracy of scientific terminology."

    4. Translation of Scientific Texts
The following shall be included before the reference list or in the Methodology section depending on context:

"AI-powered translation tools were utilized, followed by human review to ensure the accuracy of meaning and scientific terminology."

    5. Brainstorming and Summarization of Literature
The following shall be included within the text or in a footnote:

"Assistive tools were used to summarize certain studies or organize ideas, with reference made to original sources, which were accurately documented."

    6. Data or Image Analysis Using AI
The following shall be included in the Methodology section:

"AI tools (specify the tools used) were used to assist in data/image analysis, with results verified using approved scientific methods."

    7. Generation of Non-Empirical Simulation Data Using AI
The following shall be included in the Methodology section:

"AI-supported non-empirical simulation data generation techniques (specify the tools used) were employed, with the generation methodology and data validation mechanisms clearly described."

    8. Preparation of Figures and Graphs
The following shall be included below the figure or table as needed:

"This figure/table was prepared/formatted using AI-powered digital tools based on the study data."

    9. General Technical Assistance
The following shall be included in the Acknowledgements section:

"The authors acknowledge the supportive technical tools that contributed to the organization of the work and the improvement of the final presentation."

Fourth: Absolute Prohibitions

The following are strictly prohibited under penalty of immediate rejection:

  • Generating research data or findings in any form whatsoever.

  • Relying on AI to write the analysis or conclusions without genuine scholarly input from the researcher.

  • Using fabricated references or automatically generated, non-credible sources.

  • Rephrasing the work of others in a manner that obscures the original source (i.e., 'evolved plagiarism').

  • Listing AI tools among the authors.

Fifth: Verification Procedures and Legal Consequences

  • The Journal employs advanced detection tools and meticulous manual screening.

  • Failure to disclose or the automated generation of results shall be considered explicit scientific misconduct/fabrication.

  • The Journal's Editorial Board reserves the right to request methodological clarifications or logs of automated work where necessary to ensure result accuracy.

  • If a violation is confirmed, the Journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript, retract it post-publication, and impose a ban on the offending researchers.

Sixth: Policy Review and Updates

This policy is subject to periodic annual review to keep pace with rapid technological developments and international best academic practices.
