Ethics of Publication in the Euphrates University Journal:
The Euphrates University Journal is a peer-reviewed, quarterly scientific journal published by Euphrates University in three series:
First: The Euphrates University Journal of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences Series.
Second: The Euphrates University Journal of Basic and Engineering Sciences Series.
Third: The Euphrates University Journal of Humanities Series (specifically for Arts, Education, Law, and Economics). It focuses on innovative and original research and studies in various scientific fields and accepts scientific research and innovative scientific findings in the form of applied scientific research.
Ethical Standards of Publication:
Publishing articles in our journal serves several functions, one of which is to value and preserve the intricate details of scientific research. Therefore, it is crucial that these details are accurate and reliable. The publication process involves several parties, each playing a vital role in achieving these objectives. Thus, it is essential that the author of the research, the journal's editorial board, the research reviewers, and the publishing body or institution bear the responsibility of ensuring the expected ethical standards at all stages of publication, from article submission to publication in the journal.
The journal is committed to upholding and supporting all ethical standards throughout the entire publication process. We adhere to the recommendations of several bodies, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which sets standards and provides guidelines for best practices to ensure these requirements are met. Below, we will review the most important ethical standards expected of the editor-in-chief, reviewers, and authors.
First: Ethical Standards Expected of the Editor-in-Chief:
To act in a fair, objective, and balanced manner while performing their duties, without discrimination based on gender, origin, religion, political beliefs, race, or geographical background of the author:
To treat the submission of supplements or special editions in the same way as other submissions, ensuring that articles are considered and accepted solely on academic merit and without any commercial influence.
To give the author a reasonable opportunity to respond to any objections (complaints). All objections must be investigated, regardless of when publication has been approved, and any supporting documentation must be retained.
Second: Ethical Standards Expected of Reviewers:
To contribute to the decision-making process and help improve the quality of the published research paper by objectively and accurately reviewing and evaluating the article text.
To maintain the confidentiality of any information provided to the reviewer by the editor-in-chief or the article's author (not to save or copy the article).
To inform the editor-in-chief if the same article being reviewed is published or submitted to another journal.
To exercise caution regarding any implications arising from interest in the article (financial, relationship with the university or institute, collaboration, or any other relationship between the reviewer and the author), and to inform the editor-in-chief of any such implications. The editor-in-chief should then withdraw their review services if necessary.
Third: Ethical Standards Expected of Authors:
To maintain an accurate record of the data attached to the research paper submitted to the journal, and to ensure easy access to this data, with the approval or authorization of the employer, funding body, or other interested parties, for storing the data in a suitable location for sharing or subsequent use by others.
Ensure that the submitted article is not being submitted to another publication simultaneously or has been accepted for publication elsewhere. Any overlapping content must be cited or attributed to its original sources. Additionally, provide the editor with a copy of any submitted article that may contain overlapping information or closely related content.
Ensure that all work in the submitted article is original and that any references or other information are properly cited. Obtain permission to use content from other sources.
Disclose any implications of publication that may be considered or reviewed as an inappropriate impact on your duties at any stage of the publication process.
Inform the editor-in-chief or publisher without delay if a significant error is identified in the submitted material. Cooperate with them in the event of a typographical error, or if necessary, add to, supplement, or retract the research paper.
Fourth: Responsibility of the Publishing Journal or Publishing House:
Al-Furat University, under whose name the journal series is published, affirms its commitment to upholding the ethical standards outlined above.
Procedures for Addressing Unethical Conduct in Publication:
Malpractice or any unethical conduct in publication can be identified and brought to the attention of the journal's editorial management or publisher at any time by anyone.
Anyone who informs the editor-in-chief of such unethical conduct must provide sufficient information and evidence to initiate an investigation. All allegations must be taken seriously and treated accordingly until a successful decision is reached.
Investigation into Unethical Conduct:
The necessary decision will be made by the editor-in-chief or, if required, by the head of the editorial board.
Evidence must be gathered, and allegations of unethical conduct in publication should be kept within the purview of those who should be aware of it.
